Campania: a research and innovation hub leading in Southern Italy
Campania is the first Region in Southern Italy for public investment in research and development, with over 1 billion euros already allocated to the sector. This commitment translates into a solid and articulated regional system, with several national research and technology-transfer centres, together with one of the largest CNR (National Research Council) research communities in Italy. The regional innovation ecosystem is further strengthened by solid vertical and horizontal synergies between research, business and public investment, thanks to the presence of 7 High-Tech Districts and 21 public-private laboratories.
The Campanian innovation fabric has over 1,500 innovative startups, equal to 12.45% of the national total, establishing the Region as one of Italy’s leading scientific and technological hubs and confirming the dynamism of its enterprises at every level. This makes Campania fertile ground for the development of high-tech solutions and cross-cutting collaborations in high-added-value sectors.
